Spread 147 – A Man On A High Rope
2 November 2013
Black & white gesso, matte medium, black, brown & metal tape, personal images, china marker, micron pens, Nova Color acrylic paint.
The largest percentage of my spreads deal with my past. It is time to start dealing with my present. It doesn’t mean that I will not revisit the past from time to time.
This weekend I had the pleasure to attend a wonderful art journaling weekend with Orly Avineri and Erin Faith Allen. It was a weekend of deep sharing, and experiencing some amazing artists, each and every one there. The weekend leaves me feeling energized and inspired.
Peace.
Sounds like an incredible experience. This is a new look for you and I like it Brian. Our past does influence our present.
Oh! Tears. You’re such a beauty-filled soul. Honored to journey along side you this weekend. Your work and life is gorgeous and inspiring. XO
The past can sometimes be quite the anchor; pulling us back and weighing us down. However, the past also “grounds” us, because it is past experiences that we learn from; that help us grow as human beings. It is our past that has made us who we are. That said, the challenge, as I see it, is to be mindful of those things our past has taught us while learning to live in the ever-changing moment. A very interesting, thought-provoking spread, Brian!
Moving on is important. I think of how I have moved on since retirement and it has been an amazing experience. So I encourage you in your in new directions.
Love the feeling behind this piece. It is powerful not only because of your execution but because of how it seems to be cathartic.
You connected to your piece in a powerful way. It marks a significant a turning point for you. I am so glad that I was with you during this time.
No words, just feelings! XO
