Who are your influences? Mine: Antoni Tapies, Jean Michel Basquait, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Orly Avineri, Juliana Coles, my parents, my garden, graffiti, pop culture, hockey, my environment, you. The challenge is to take it all in, yet still remain yourself.
Who are your influences and inspirations to your art currently?
My influences (and inspiration): Kurt Schwitters, Robert Rauschenberg, Joseph Cornell, Paul Klee, Aurthur Dove, Georgia O’Keeffe Remedios Varo, Ed Kienholz, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, and Simon Rodia.
My influences include Matisse, Warhol, Frank Lloyd Wright, Mary Sorrows Hughes, William Joyce, Aelita Andre (can I be her when I grow up?), O’Keefe, Rothko, Chihuly…
Anything, everyone….and of course you (-:
If this journal spread is how you are ‘under the influence’ then I say KEEP DRINKING…creative inspiration that is!!
Some of my constant inspirations are Nick Bantock, Joseph Cornell, Nina Bagley, and Chris Raushka…and watching creativity flourish in people in like you, Brian!
Louise Bourgeois, Charles Demuth, Georgia O’Keefe, Marsden Hartley to name a few.
This spread is really lovely.
Strong and powerful piece here Brian. I second you on your influences too!
Wow, Brian. You go! What a strong, powerful piece. I love to go to the library art section and choose from the large variety of artists who inspire me visually that day. I bring home the books and pour through them.
I agree with Orly… awsome…
So Asian or calligraphy influenced. Super piece!
so wonderful.
Love the dynamic simplicity of this.
And the thought prompt. You just may have given me my daily’s path.
Right now my main influence is Lynda Barry. I’m reading her book What it is and I have to do it with my notebook at hand to write all the ideas I get by looking at her amazing pages.
Love your art!
