Things are not always clear, nor do they always fit neatly in a box. I remember in my youth I did not understand abstract art. Time changes everything.
Very nicely said, I agree and I would add that things are not always translatable nor do they need to be. Many people believe that it’s easier to make ‘abstract art’ than representational art. I do not agree with that.
I have said the same. When I was younger I didn’t get it, now I am drawn to the abstract and want to experiment with it, but like Orly said, it’s not easier, not at all
I’m slowly and carefully ‘approaching’ working in a more abstract way myself these days. You are so right when you say it is not easy. I love your page! Happy Easter!
I LOVE the colors in this journal spread Brian, but then, it is my favorite color palette I use in my artwork =-)
I also love what you have expressed here and it couldn’t be more true – things are NOT always easily fit into a box but we humans keep trying to do so! And I like to think that though abstract art is not always easy to decipher, it is up to us to at least TRY to meet it halfway…besides, most artwork is up for personal interpretation anyway!!
BTW: also loved the last journal spread you shared here – you’re doing some great work these days Brian!

So true! And as we age we also understand the beauty of restraint.
