I am excited and honored to announce that I was selected to be a teacher at Teesha & Tracy Moore’s Journalfest 2011 October 26-30, 2011 in Port Townsend, Washington! I will be teaching my “Layers of Life” class. I am thrilled to be part of this years amazing lineup! The rest of the lineup be live on the Journalfest website March 5th. If you would like more info on my class please feel free to contact me directly. The class description is below.
Layers Of Life
Our experiences, dreams and goals are layered one upon each other to make the rich tapestry of our lives. Join us as we explore these many wonderful layers using personal photos, current and vintage ephemera, bits bobbles, and scraps one on top of the other to create a rich tableau right in our journals. We are going to layer, layer, layer for a rich, complex pages, then we are going to open them up to expose the wonderful bits and secrets. Some things will be covered and hidden, some will be revealed. Mystery will be created. The wonderful part is nothing goes to waste. We will use the remaining parts to create a second spread with a different perspective, richly layered with paint, ink, and doodling. I will show you how to achieve an amazing vintage feel for these pages using a variety of mediums and inks.
Congratulations Brian! Your students are in for a real treat!
Stormy 🙂
Oooooh it looks so yummmmmmmy, great promise of yummness is showing through these multilayered cakes of yumminess of yours, and through your yummy description of the class. I wish I could take it. Cheers to wonderful beginnings, middles, and no endings to your path to more yumminess. My sincere apology for using the word yummy and its variables way too many times..it’s just that there is no other word available for me right now to describe all these recent developements…just yummy. Wow Brian, your workshop will be amazing, as your write up about it is. “I love the words, mysteries will be created.”
I wish I could go, but October is right in the beginning of my teaching year and I am always swamped. Your work is amazing
Oh wow, I love your class description… You are really amazing, and your work shows it. You can feel the richness of life in your layered work, this sounds like a really really wonderful class! I am really in awe each time I look at the top right image (well all of them really) It just really is so abstract but still revealing of so much emotions and life. I know I’ve already said it once, but I am sooooo excited for you!! You are a great teacher and anyone who gets the chance to work with you is lucky! 😀
