Spread 0059 – “Because I Have To”
Crackle paste, vintage images and papers, paint, white Sigano pen.
September 2011
I was in the middle of posting this spread when I happened to click on Kelly Kilmer’s blog spread about Melissa Peacock’s blog post and bam. It’s all changed.
Why do I do this? Why do I create art/journal spread’s & post them on my blog? Well about 3 plus years ago I found art journaling, something went off in my head. I had not done much art except for a few art classes. I’ve taken some amazing classes from the wonderful Orly Avineri and I was on my way and driven. I have to do this, it’s that simple. I have to do it for me, it is who I am.
Why do you art journal?
Art is crucial to my happiness and sense of balance. I create art because I like to create art. That’s it. And there doesn’t need to be any other reason.
I’ve been keeping a journal (of some form) since I was in 4th grade. I equate it with breathing. My journal is my safe place not only to experiment but to document, explore, expand and just be me.
Thank you for the linking. Wasn’t that an amazing post?
Ah thanks for the shout out, you guys effin rock.
I LOVE the way you art journal – wow! this one looks so… topographical actually. I can’t help but have flashbacks to my youth just looking at it. Are you a stanley donwood fan by any chance?
I love the way you art journal too, your images are so unique and have such a wonderful depth. I love too that I can click on them to see all the tiny detail, it’s magical.
So why do I art journal? I discovered art journaling last February and this rush of creativity came pouring out of me. I don’t think I could stop it now if I tried.
Big love
AJ
