Spread 0187 – My Own Way
14 March 2015
Matte medium, magazines, gesso, Novacolor paints, matte varnish, Tim Holtz Distress Inks
My Mother told me very early in my life “Brian you defiantly have your own way of doing things.” The older I get the more I realize this is true. I do things in my own time, in my own way. It inevitably won’t be the easy way, or “the right way” but it will be my way.
Actually the title has nothing to little with this spread. I tend to let the viewer make up their own story for my spreads. I may or may not know what a spread means when I am finished with it. Sometimes the meaning comes much later for me. Yes, that is just “my way”.
This spread was created this weekend in Orly Avineri’s workshop. It was a wonderful relaxing workshop. I like to think of it more as a few cherished dear friends got together and Orly lead us is some wonderful prompts, all in all it was a very moving weekend. We had shared some wonderful food. We laughed, shared and smiled and hugged, ALOT!
Just spectacular Brian – so different for you but equally as amazing as all your work is
Thank you Thomas!
Magnificent drama…it was such a weekend…I agree..
I like everything about this spread. Congratulaciones Brian
I love the juxtaposition between the vivid colour and relaxed poses on the left page against the monochromatic palette and intense and tangled forms in the right page.
Brian so different for you but I love it and the colors- it’s a very emotional spread.
So powerful. I love it, love to see you trying new things..YOUR way!
Incredibly outstanding!
Outstandingly different! I love how you worked on the right side of the spread keeping some of the photo and altering other parts. Very effective!
What a bold and dramatic spread you’ve created here Brian! I sure do miss those art journal workshops with great company and excellent food!
Brian, this piece has me enchanted. I love the imagery and the depth of color you used. Great job Sir!
Very touching!
