The last page of a journal gives me mixed feelings, happiness, sadness, accomplishment and excitement for the next journal and the next spread. To me it is important to include a current photo and to document where I am in the present moment. This is a documentation of my journey in my journal and my artistic life. Always mindful of my past and moving forward in the present. On to the next journal and the next adventure. Thank you for joining me.

I love that you ended your journal with a photo and what’s going on your life right now. I agree about the mixed feelings as you come to the last page, many times we don’t want a good thing to end, but yet there is so much that the future holds.
Thanks for sharing Brian
WOW!!! I LOVE this, it’s gorgeous. What can I see….love it! Don’t wanna talk about it…
Very cool Brian…great idea for ending a journal and it is an awesome one at that.

Brian I love love love the texture and colour that you created on your pages. Very nice work 🙂 thanks for sharing.
I do that too in my ‘Chronicles’ art journals – I take a photo of myself on that day (the last day of the year) and add it on the last page. Funny to see that you do that too, for the same reasons/intentions. Enjoy your new journal!
Such a great way to signify the last page of your journal…I seem to always work through my journals from the front and back to the middle, lol. Very cool page, I love the texture!

I’m late, late, late, but it has to do with that pesky tornado that tore through my town on Saturday night/Sunday morning. I was originally in the path, but it veered to the east and did a bunch of destruction there, instead of at my place.
I always feel a bit of sadness when I finish a project, whether it is an altered book, or a collage or assemblage. There is something satisfying, but also sad about saying good-bye to the project, whether you keep it or not. I suspect you keep all your journals, but since I don’t really journal, it is easier for me to give my art away.
You asked about my calendar. In the past, I have made 1″ squares, but lately, I’ve been using a 2012 calendar and cutting the squares from it. In fact, these last couple of months, I have cut strips, which is a “day” of the month at a time. By that I mean all the Mondays are in a line, etc. In February, I cut hearts and that was hard to write small notes on. I may do something this summer with stars for July. That can be a pain, though, since I’m not a very patient person (grin). Thanks for asking.
I love that you end your journals with a statement of where you are in your life at the time of the last spread AND I love the journal spread itself =-)
I think I stop working on some of my projects because I hate to see them come to an end! But I forget that there is always another project waiting to be born into the world and i always have ideas for projects…I hope your tomatoes grow in plump and JUICY!
So nice to come back here again. I love this post especially. I’m really drawn to graffiti and recently completed a series of graffiti boards.
Great post about Orly’s book too by the way.
